Catholics calling the kettle black?

By: Dan Clements

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research on Islam and Sharia law, when I came across some interesting acticals published by a Catholic web site http://www.trosch.org/

Catholics believe that the Wisdom of The Lord (truth) is greater than the Muslim Sword commonly used to conquer when they know they will not succeed through teachings. Imams and ayatollahs acquire converts and dominate through fear of the sword rather than by obtaining conversions through truth (apologetics). Islam fears evangelization, Catholics of faith have no such fear.

Um, hello can anybody say Spanish Inquisition? It seems to me that Catholics have real short memories. To claim a moral superiority over Muslims and their actions in the past and now seems laughable in the extreme. Catholics in the past ruled over vast areas of Europe with an iron fist. If you disagree with them you were labeled a heretic and burned. If you died before they could find you, they would dig you up, crush your bones and scatter them.

The first hand-written English language Bible manuscripts were produced in the 1380's AD by John Wycliffe, an Oxford professor, scholar, and theologian. Wycliffe, (also spelled “Wycliff” & “Wyclif”), was well-known throughout Europe for his opposition to the teaching of the organized Church, which he believed to be contrary to the Bible. With the help of his followers, called the Lollards, and his assistant Purvey, and many other faithful scribes, Wycliffe produced dozens of English language manuscript copies of the scriptures. They were translated out of the Latin Vulgate, which was the only source text available to Wycliffe. The Pope was so infuriated by his teachings and his translation of the Bible into English that 44 years after Wycliffe had died, he ordered the bones to be dug-up, crushed, and scattered in the river!

Real swell guy this pope! It seems to me that Catholics need to remember their history a little better than they do.

You find true Christianity in the pages of the New Testament, from an honest study and application of God’s word, not from dictates from on high (the Vatican). And you find true service to God, comes from a willingness to serve God out of love not fear (Islam).
